When removing vinyl flooring (especially older materials) there can be surprises uncovered that will require a professional to deal with. Prior to the 1980’s the use of asbestos was common, therefore a careful assessment of the floor is required for older homes prior to removing and breaking up the subfloor. GC Floor Prep can identify potential asbestos hazards and get materials tested to ensure a safe removal.

If vinyl has been laid directly onto a wooden subfloor, the glue usually causes damage to the wood, and often removal of nails and even leveling compounds can be difficult without the necessary tools.

Once the vinyl is lifted, depending on the subfloor, glue and other adhesives will have to be removed using our special high-end grinding equipment to leave a clean base for your new flooring to be applied.
